SON OF A JETLAG! My body still thinks it’s somewhere else in this world which means I get the joy of being wide awake at 3AM. My brain is also pretty non stop. I was scrolling on twitter earlier and it was just one bad news highlight after the other after the other with some sporadic GOT memes thrown in (y’all, what the heck) But, at this rate, I’ll be awake to see the sun come up, which is kind of a lovely thought. Anytime I start feeling really heavy with the weight of the world, I just think about the new day that is about to come up. A new day. What a beautiful life we live to experience a new day.

MAKEUP TIME ✨Yesterday I wrote a blog post all about my eco-journey towards clean and sustainable makeup with @elatecosmetics. Typical makeup (no matter at drugstore prices or high end) has so many harsh and terrible toxins that make their way through your skin into your body! And the packaging is also quite difficult to recycle! So I made the switch to a clean beauty brand that is cruelty free and comes in sustainable bamboo packaging with a refill system! ALRIGHT HURR! * Everything started to change for me when I decided to begin living more eco-friendly. It wasn’t only that I was searching for specific certifications (fair trade, cruelty free, palm-oil free, certified natural & organic ((its a very long list)) on every product I picked up, but suddenly I was even looking at the ingredient lists, too. YouTube became a dear friend to me in this time as I did a deep dive into the never ending world of things to learn via binge watching. When I decided to switch out plastic bottles for shampoo & conditioner bars, YouTube, Instagram, and google all helped me decide on @ethiqueworld. It seemed like an easy enough switch- and it was! Both my shower products will now never leave a trace on this earth all the while being naturally gentle on my locks. Now, as for the styling...I can admit it is still something I struggle to do even at 26 (in a week) years of age. Years of swimming, heat application, tons of hair dye (swipe to see proof) and using whatever products I had lying around made my hair turn into a frizzy disaster zone that I tamed by using a flat iron. But, thanks to the internet and diving just a little into the “curly girl method” I have learned what my wavy hair has always thirsted for! I’ve switched my products to sulphate & silicone free, now dry my hair with a cotton T-shirt, and use @sheamoisture as my only styling product for now. And I gotta say, I look forward to washing and styling my natural hair type now! Basically, this whole long thing is just to say this: I’m kinda proud of myself! It’s been over a month since I last used a straightener and I really have no urge to anymore. Nor do I have any urge to change my color anymore. All this to say that what used to be my norm- this constant urge to change my appearance- is now in the past and now all I yearn for is to live my most natural self. ☀️ hallelujah! Somehow from one day to the other I got horribly sick. Currently have tissue wedged into my nose to stop it from running.
