I’ve been meaning to make several blog posts these past few days, but either school becomes rather continuously busy or my computer battery dies before I even get the change to type anything out. Now, yes, bringing my computer charger is the most obvious solution to that problem but to that I say, finding outlets on this university is actually not the easiest task, and this computer dies within a couple hours of use so it’s always a bother to turn it back on. Silly excuses, but reasons regardless.
Anyway, I’m currently sitting in the library taking a break from reading about a mixture of cultural geography and comparative politics and before beginning to switch my brain over to french so I can write this french skit on Lolita Malgré Moi (mean girls). Recently I went to this worship concert- thing that my university hosts every Tuesday night at 9pm called Breakaway. I used to be so consistent on attending before I left to France, but this semester I’m constantly remembering about it when it’s already too late (as in midnight when I’m in bed). Oops. Though, I made absolutely certain that I would go this week and I’m glad I did. Now, I’m not one to talk too much about religion or my faith and I certainly don’t push it onto others or anything like that. Though, I will mention that the topic was just something I found very relevant towards my everyday life, and maybe yours as well. And here it is:
“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.” -Philippians 2:12-16
Do everything without grumbling or arguing…then you will shine among them like stars in the sky. We talked and thought about how many times a day we begin conversations with neighbors about what is wrong and build relationships that way, especially here at university. Think about it, “Man, I hate this class…” “Yeah, me too” “I seriously hate studying- totally don’t wanna do it” “Yeah, me either, dude”. I am so guilty of this. We should be attracted to positivity and we should be the positivity in other people’s worlds. Believe in greatness and greatness will be attracted to you. Expect great things. So I’m making it my daily goal to be more positive, to keep negativity out of my daily life, and to reach that level to where I can attract beautiful things and hold onto beautiful people and to where I can continue to shine like a star in the sky. If you feel like life is holding you down sometimes and that you just can’t win, take a second and think about what it all means and think about how you are so important and how you can be a star.
